MDF, or medium-density fibreboard, is commonly used as a base material to glue veneer to for various applications like cabinet making, framing, and speaker construction. It is easily tooled and sands/finishes very smoothly - it also doesn't expand or contract like wood. On campus, it is mostly used for pedestal construction since it has an extremely flat surface that accepts paint well. We recommend you visit the store in person, before purchasing desired material
